For me, surviving sexual violence has been climbing up the slippery steps from the depths of hell. My abuser was an older cousin and SHE told me not to tell. I didn’t…I was afraid that my dad and her dad would be mad at each other. I spent years in my hell. I battled eating disorders, self-injured, drank, and hated myself. I finally told my dad what happened after I attempted suicide at the age of 25. I was one of the lucky ones…my dad believed me. 10 years later, I still battle for survival, and I want to make it to the other side of that door.
